Ceres Solutions grows gourmet mushrooms from agricultural by-products at an urban farm located in Crossfield. Our modular cultivation system is industry leading in product quality, plastic use, emissions reduction, and yield per square foot. Ceres is committed to cultivating high quality, nutritious and affordable food for Albertans. After the 7 week growing process which takes place indoors, Ceres’ mushrooms are harvested by hand and sold to local restaurants and markets. Ceres operates on a truly sustainable and circular model, supporting local breweries, chefs, food processors and local farmers. The company was founded in November of 2015 while Alex Villeneuve attended Olds College’s Beer Brewmaster program. The first 6 years of Ceres’ operations were spent developing and refining our high-tech cultivation system in a small warehouse on the Olds College campus. Recently, Ceres moved to a larger facility in Crossfield, Alberta where it is scaling up its technology with the help of 4 full time staff and three generations of the Villeneuve family.
